The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives led by CS Peter Munya, has this morning mourned the death of the 3rd Kenyan President H.E Mwai Kibaki. During the signing of the condolence book at Kilimo House, the staff described the late H.E Kibaki as one of the greatest Presidents the country ever had. The Principal Secretary Dr. Francis Owino, state department for Crops Development and Agricultural Research, yesterday launched a refresher training and field control operations on African Army Worm outbreaks in Kisumu.
In his speech, Dr. Owino noted that the government, in collaboration with Public and Private Partners is now stepping up interventions for timely control of African Army Worm in all the affected counties.
Some of the responses include: Training of Spray Service Providers, enhanced public awareness, enhanced real time data collection, installation & revival of African Army Worm early warning system and monitoring of control operations in compliance with environmental, health and social safeguards.
