The Public Service Governance (PSG) has appointed a Taskforce that will come up with ways of reducing the cost of doing business in the country.
Members of the Taskforce who were appointed by the PSG President, Ambassador Esther Waringa are Kotomraju Prasad (Direcror SESS Solutions), Damaris Nyambura Kamau and Joyce Wamahiu (PSG Board Members), Ntin Dhanji Harania (CEO Ukwala Bargain Ltd), Hussein Islam Simba (Ta’awun Trust and Peace League Africa) and Vanita Chohan (Microcity Kenya).
The PSG President, who was speaking during a business conference held at a Nairobi hotel, said the team will engage with the necessary authorities, while undertaking their tasks.
Amb. Waringa said the Taskforce will forward various recommendations on how to lower business costs in the country by pushing the Bicameral Parliament through a private members Bill to be introduced in both legislative Houses, to adopt and implement the recommendations.
“The proposed law will focus on key thematic areas that include a review on business tax laws, changing the business internal and external investment procedure and a re-look at the international trade and industrialization policies,” said Waringa.
She added that the team will also focus on reviewing the cost of a commodity after the manufacturing, processing and transportation process, uses of technological solutions in businesses and diversification of other taxation, to avoid too much taxation.
