Samburu County Government Distributes Medical Supplies Worth Over Sh50 Million

Samburu: The Samburu County government has initiated the distribution of medical supplies valued at Sh51 million to government health facilities throughout the county.

According to Kenya News Agency, the distribution was marked by the flagging off of five trucks at the Samburu County Referral Hospital. The consignment, procured from Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS), is intended for the first quarter of the current financial year. Josephat Lenguris, Samburu Chief Officer for Medical Services, highlighted that the delay in acquisition was due to the implementation of the new Electronic Government Procurement System (EGP). He explained that procurement officers are currently being trained to operate this system effectively.

The medical supplies will be delivered to public health facilities in Samburu north, Samburu east, and Samburu central sub-counties within the next two weeks. Lenguris revealed that the consignment includes drugs, non-pharmaceuticals, lab reagents, and Personal Protective Equipment, aiming to enhance healthcare services for the residents of Samburu.

The announcement was made in the presence of Dr. Ezra Lekenit, Director of Medical Services, and Dr. Patti Lengees, the Medical Superintendent.
