Nairobi: Western Regional Commissioner (RC) Irungu Macharia has called on the residents to cooperate with the National Government Administration Officers and the security agencies for the realization of peace and security in the region. Mr. Macharia, who spoke while commissioning the Deputy County Commissioner Michael Too (DCC) for the newly-created Tiriki East sub county, disclosed that they have profiled areas in terms of the state of security and crime rate in order to take appropriate action.

According to Kenya News Agency, Mr. Macharia listed Luanda town in Luanda sub county, Matayos in Busia County, and Matungu sub county in Kakamega County as areas plagued by mugging, thuggery, and criminal activities. The RC assured people that the respective government agencies are working collaboratively to ensure the state of insecurity situation is contained.

The Acting County Commissioner (CC) Vihiga, Florence Sitawa, asked the residents to work closely with the government administration officers for mutual benefit. The new administrative unit has been carved out of Hamisi Sub County and is headquartered in the Shaviringa area.
