Rayon Sports WFC to Face JKT Queens in CECAFA Women’s Qualifiers Final

Nairobi: The 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers final is set for September 16, 2025, with Rayon Sport WFC facing former champions JKT Queens in the finals at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya.

According to Kenya News Agency, Rayon Sports WFC, the Rwanda women’s champions, advanced to the finals by defeating Kampala Queens from Uganda 4-2 in a penalty shootout. The semi-final clash had ended in a stalemate, with neither team managing to score during regular and extra time at the Kasarani Stadium.

Rayon Sports’ goalkeeper, Angeline Ndakimana, played a crucial role in the victory by saving two penalties. The match saw both teams create several scoring opportunities but fail to capitalize. Kampala Queens’ closest chance came when Zaituni Namaganda’s powerful shot, set up by Catherine Nagadya, was expertly saved by Ndakimana.

In the penalty shootout, Rayon Sports successfully converted four spot-kicks through Scholastique Gikundiro, Jeannette Ukwinkunda, and Angelique Umuhonza. Kampala Queens managed to score with Teddy Najjuma and Shakirah Nankwanga, but Ndakimana’s saves were decisive in securing the win for Rayon Sports.

In the second semi-final, JKT Queens faced Kenya Police Bullets in a match that also went to penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes. Kenya Police Bullets took an early lead with a penalty converted by Diana Wacera, but JKT Queens’ Jamila Rajab equalized after 38 minutes.

The teams continued to search for goals but were unable to find the back of the net in open play. During the penalty shootout, JKT Queens excelled, scoring all four of their attempts, while Kenya Police Bullets missed two.

Rayon Sports WFC will now face JKT Queens in the finals, while Kenya Police Bullets and Kampala Queens will compete for third place.
