Narok: The Kenya Public Transport Owners Association has called off the nationwide public transport strike scheduled for Monday next week to protest the burning of some vehicles involved in accidents with boda boda operators. The association chairman, Kushian Muchiri, made the announcement in Narok during a consultative meeting with local boda boda operators, indicating that talks have begun to resolve the conflict between the two sectors.
According to Kenya News Agency, Muchiri urged the riders to always act responsibly during accidents by being first responders in managing the situation calmly and effectively to help save lives and property. This move was welcomed by the boda boda national chairman, Kevin Mbadi, who stated that such actions will help prevent the buildup of tension at accident scenes.
With this cooperation, Mbadi noted the potential to identify rogue riders who commit criminal acts and ensure they are dealt with according to the law. He cautioned riders against taking the law into their own hands and advised them to involve police officers whenever accidents occur, promoting sanity in the sector.
The riders also benefited from services offered by the Mogo company, including free service on their motorbikes among other services during the meeting. Narok boda boda chairman Gideon Lemayian praised the efforts to resolve the matter, stating it marked a new beginning for their sector.
