Nairobi: Educational institutions in Migori County have been urged to engage relevant agencies to acquire title deeds to realise infrastructural development. Suna West Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Masara, who spoke during the launch of classrooms at the Saint Francis Marindi Primary School, built under the National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), said his office has tried to acquire title deeds for schools that the CDF has invested in.
According to Kenya News Agency, the legislator stated that the subdivision of mother titles in NG-CDF-invested schools was ongoing within the constituency. He noted that school names in some institutions have not yet been transferred to reflect on title deeds. The MP acknowledged that succession takes time but promised to expedite the process of acquiring title deeds in his constituency to fast-track the development agenda.

Comprehensive School in Nyabikaye area, Kuria West Sub County, highlighted that the lack of title deeds for public schools was hindering infrastructural development. He explained that the county and national government, as well as donors, face challenges in investing in a public school lacking proper land credentials due to succession claims.
The Deputy Governor further noted that the majority of schools in the Kuria region lack title deeds because the land was community-donated, yet no succession has been completed. He emphasized that they will continue collaborating with the Ministry of Education and other relevant stakeholders to ensure schools obtain the necessary documents to advance infrastructural projects.
Headteacher of Bungutwi Comprehensive School, Mrs. Joyce Nyangi, outlined the severe challenges confronting the institution, which include the lack of a title deed, inadequate classrooms, teacher shortage, and dwindling enrollment that continues to affect the quality of education. She appealed to
the government for assistance in securing a title deed, explaining that while the community donated the land, formal succession has never been processed.
