President Ruto Unveils Major Development Projects in Laikipia

Doldol: President William Ruto has unveiled major development projects for Laikipia County, reaffirming his Administration’s commitment to equitable and all-inclusive growth for every part of the country. Speaking during a development tour in Doldol, Laikipia North Sub-county, the Head of State emphasized the government’s focus on historically marginalized regions to ensure no community is left behind in the national development agenda.

According to Kenya News Agency, President Ruto announced a flagship project involving the allocation of Sh4 billion for the construction of the long-awaited 60-kilometer Nanyuki-Doldol road. The President assured residents that construction could commence in two weeks. The project is part of a larger 217-kilometer road network upgrade across Laikipia County, with a total of six road projects budgeted for, according to the President.

In addition to road infrastructure, President Ruto revealed that Sh60 million has been allocated for building five new schools in Laikipia North to enhance the learning environment, particularly in remote areas. To improve student mobility, a bus was handed over to Kurum Day Secondary School.

The President also highlighted a significant investment in the Affordable Housing Programme in Doldol, amounting to Sh15 billion. This initiative aims to develop modern markets across the country, supporting small-scale traders and stimulating local economies.

During his visit, President Ruto laid the Foundation Stone for the Doldol Huduma Centre, which will include an ICT hub and offer over 168 government services to residents. This move aligns with the government’s broader strategy to decentralize public services and enhance efficiency.

Ruto reiterated to Doldol residents that his Administration’s development philosophy focuses on spreading resources fairly, targeting rural and underserved areas. He described the projects as practical measures to transform lives and create opportunities at the grassroots level.

Accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and several senior government officials, President Ruto’s visit underscored ongoing efforts in roads, education, housing, and service delivery in Laikipia County. He also toured Olmoran, Kirima, and Nyahururu, all within Laikipia County.
