Narok: Narok East Sub-County Legislator Ken Kiloku has announced a three-day mop-up exercise to track all learners expected to join grade 10 at the senior school level as the government intensifies efforts to enforce 100 per cent transition.
According to Kenya News Agency, Kiloku made the announcement at Nairega Nkare National Government Constituency Development Fund offices during the verification exercise of the constituency bursary application. He expressed concern that a significant number of learners expected to join senior school were still at home despite legal requirements for them to be in school.
The legislator urged parents and guardians to ensure their children report to school, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the government’s policy on 100 per cent transition. The exercise will be conducted in collaboration with local administrators to identify and support all eligible learners who have yet to report.
Students expected to join senior school but still at home are also encouraged to report to the area Deputy County Commissioner’s office for school placement arrangements. Kiloku stressed the importance of sensitizing communities on the value of education and continuous learning, enabling children to maximize their potential.
Parents present at the verification process expressed gratitude for the financial support through bursaries, which have helped keep their children in school. Stephen Lesope, a small-scale trader, highlighted Kiloku’s focus on education as a key factor in enabling learners from vulnerable families to pursue academic goals. Lucy Maina, a casual laborer, affirmed their commitment to ensuring their children’s education for a better future.
