Over 700 ECDE Teachers Secure Permanent Roles

Kisii County Governor, Simba Arati, successfully transitioned 714 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), teachers from contractual to permanent and pensionable roles at Gusii Stadium.

Arati revealed that out of 1206 applicants, 783 were shortlisted, with 158 pending contract considerations and 15 under scrutiny by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) due to alleged document falsification. Additionally, 265 applicants from outside Kisii County and 54 with identification issues were among those considered.

The Governor emphasized the importance of academic qualifications, expressing delight in the favorable job groups and salary ranges of Sh26, 000 to Sh39, 000 for the selected teachers.

Arati commended Jackline Moraa and Wilkister Moraa, both possessing master’s degrees in ECDE despite familial responsibilities, encouraging young educators to pursue further studies.

During the event, Elijah Obebo, Chairperson of the County Public Service Board, urged teachers to excel in their new roles
, noting potential transfers under the purview of the Minister for Education.

Education County Executive Committee (CEC) Member, Amos Nyamoko, acknowledged the Governor’s commitment to ECDE teachers, fulfilling promises and providing necessary resources.

Albert Ondimu, Secretary General of Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Kisii Branch, lauded the County government’s support for ECDE teachers, urging them to join the union.

The event was also graced by other county leaders, including members of the County Assembly (MCAs).
