On 6th June 2022, CAS Lawrence Omuhaka received the ILRI Board of Trustees led by the Chair, Elsa Murano and Centre Director General Dr. Jimmy Smith for a courtesy call on behalf of CS Peter Munya. He was flanked by the PS Livestock Harry Kimtai.
The ILRI team briefed the Ministry on the ongoing reforms taking place within the CGIAR (Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research).
The chair, Elsa Murano appreciated Kenya as not only the host country for ILRI but also other CGIAR centers.
Among the issues discussed were the role of livestock research plays in mitigating issues of climate change.
ILRI promised to work together with the Ministry in supporting countries efforts to mitigate climate change and build resilience within its food systems.
