Soum: The High Commissioner of the province of Soum, Mr. Wend-N©r© Wilfried TOUGMA, who also serves as the president of the Provincial Committee for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (COPROSUR), officially commenced the distribution of food to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable host households in the commune of Djibo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this significant initiative is a part of the humanitarian efforts led by the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR). The operation responds to the acute humanitarian challenges that the region is facing due to ongoing security issues.

In his speech, the High Commissioner lauded the resilience of the local population and the contributions from humanitarian partners. He encouraged the residents to intensify their efforts to ensure a successful agricultural season, aiming for food self-sufficiency.

The operation involves the distribution of 570 tons of cereals, including rice, sorghum, corn, and millet. Additionally, the relief includes 160 boxes of sardines, 150 boxes of soap, 100 bags of salt weighing 25 kg each, 100 boxes of sugar, 20 bags of powdered sugar weighing 50 kg each, and 160 boxes of pasta. This aid will be distributed free of charge to 5,700 households identified as vulnerable within the municipality.
