Hanoi: A renowned Nyali businessman and parliamentary hopeful, Said Abdalla, has called for political tolerance as the country gears towards the 2027 general elections. Abdalla has cautioned residents to be mindful of leaders seeking elective positions while spewing messages coined in hate and propagating tribalism, especially in Nyali and Mombasa County in general.
According to Kenya News Agency, speaking during a women’s empowerment program in the Mlaleo area, Abdalla emphasized that Nyali is a unique constituency as it houses a diverse and metropolitan population from across the country, hence the need to champion constructive and positive politics. “We should not accept to be divided on tribal and religious lines. Nyali is the home of diversity. The country suffered unimaginable loss and pain in 2007; we do not want to go that way at any cost,” he said.
He also urged the youth to register as voters in their numbers, noting that traditionally, youth have been used by rogue politicians to cause chaos, leaving them vulnerable in every election cycle. Abdalla called on grassroots leaders, including Nyumba Kumi and National Government Administration officers (NGAO), to help youth acquire national ID cards and voter registration for them to participate in the election process.
Furthermore, he urged the National Registration Bureau to release identification cards in their custody to thousands of youths in Mombasa. “We need all IDs in the possession of the Registration Bureau released to our youth to ensure they also get an opportunity to register as voters and elect leaders of their choice,” said Abdalla.
Abdalla added that he will soon initiate a program meant to intensify a door-to-door and ward-to-ward campaign to sensitize unregistered voters. He said the initiative will primarily target youth and women and will complement the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)’s efforts to increase the number of registered voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On land issues, Abdalla noted that the perennial land problem that has plagued Nyali for decades was a priority agenda that needs a permanent solution. He said that for years, residents have been duped by unscrupulous land dealers who have left them destitute with the promise of giving them title deeds. “The president has charted the path towards giving Nyali residents a lasting solution to the land question by issuing title deeds to our people in Kwa-Bullo and other parts of our sub-County. We shall follow suit and dignify the people of Nyali and Mombasa,” said Abdalla.
