Nordic Black Theater Group Will Arrive in Addis Ababa Tomorrow

Addis Ababa, The Nordic Black Theater Group will arrive in Addis Ababa on Monday to show its splendid performances in Ethiopia and share professional experiences with its counterparts in the country.

Ethiopian and Ethiopian-origin volunteers, who have concern for the development of tourism in the country, in collaboration with ‘One Love Ethiopia Tour and Travel’ as well as the Ministry of Tourism, among others, have facilitated the theatrical event and tour of the group.

Founder and Manager of ‘One Love Ethiopia Tour and Travel’, Abreham Yohannes, said the visit of the group to Ethiopia will play a vital role in terms of strengthening people-to-people interaction on top of boosting the cultural exchange between Ethiopia and Norway.

Events of this kind are crucial to Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to promote existing potential in the tourism sector, he added.

According to Abreham, Ethiopian Airlines, the Ethiopian Consulate in Norway, the Investment Commission, and the Ethiopian National Theater, among others, have played a lot in the successful conduct of the event.

The 30-member Nordic Black Theater Group will stay in Ethiopia for 10 days, staging its theatrical performances at the Ethiopian National Theater, Yared School of Music, African Union, and other places.

Black Woman Rising, a musical drama that depicts the life of Maya Angelou, will be staged at the Ethiopian National Theater on Friday, starting at 5.30.

The general manager of the Ethiopian National Theater, Manyazewal Endeshaw, said such events are a good opportunity for the exchange of experiences in the field.

The group will also donate sound systems that are vital to musical and theatrical works to the National Theater and provide training to music professionals in the theater house, he indicated.

Members of the group are also expected to visit various tourist destinations and other investment projects and take part in the upcoming Great Ethiopian Run.

The Nordic Black Theatre was founded in Oslo, Norway, in 1992 with the aim of diversifying Norwegian theater. It was founded by actor, director, and playwright Cliff Moustache and Jarl Solberg.

The Nordic Black Theatre has been at the forefront of developing new theater talent in Norway.
