Gitwe Secondary School in Kirinyaga Central Constituency has received a facelift after completion of a new laboratory with full furniture and lab equipment.
Kirinyaga Central National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), has spent Sh8.6 million on improvement of the learning facility at the school during this financial year.
The area Member of Parliament, John Munene, noted that the largest amount of money from NG-CDF has been used to renovate classrooms and construction of laboratories in various schools within the Constituency.
The Kirinyaga Central Legislator, while commissioning a fully equipped laboratory at Kanyekiine Ward in his Constituency challenged learners to utilize the facility, making use of all the available resources and teachers for a good performance in their education.
“I do challenge all the students to make use of this new facility to expand their practical knowledge on matters of science,”
“We need good results and can only be realized upon proper utilization of the available resources and materials,” said Munene
He emphasized that education is the only way for development, as well as a way to reduce poverty in the community and challenged local parents to take education seriously for a better future for their children.
“Conducive learning environment in our institutions is key to every learner, therefore, every parent should take their children to school as the government fully pays tuition for all students,” he noted.
Kirinyaga Central Education Director, Mitchelle Machora cautioned parents that they will face the law if they fail to take their children to school. He called for the Chief and their Assistants to ensure that all children, especially those who sat their KCPE, must transition to form one.
“If we receive reports of any child at home, I will be at your doorstep the following morning, the parents must explain why, our administration officers on ground especially chiefs and assistant chiefs are alert,” he said.
The school principal lauded the NG-CDF for the laboratory and promised to improve the science subjects and school performance.
