New Dispensary to Boost Access to Healthcare in Kajiado East

Kajiado: Residents of Esarunoto village in Kajiado East constituency can now breathe a sigh of relief following the commissioning of Esarunoto dispensary, a health facility which will ensure residents have access to the primary healthcare services within their vicinity.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kajiado County Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho stated that the facility marked a significant step in improving access to healthcare for the people of Esarunoto, Mbuko, and Munchu areas. He appreciated the efforts made by the county health employees, including community health promoters, for ensuring residents receive essential healthcare services at the grassroots level.

The Deputy Governor also urged residents to continue registering with The Social Healthy Authority (SHA) for affordable access to health services. County Executive Committee Member for Health, Alex Kilowua, mentioned that the county will continue to employ healthcare workers and ensure there are adequate drugs in all health facilities across the county. Kilowua expressed excitement over President William Ruto’s recent allocation of Sh10 billion to the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) to ensure counties can obtain necessary medications.

Kilowua further emphasized the county’s commitment to bringing healthcare services closer to the people, revealing that the Ilmukutani dispensary will be completed in the next two months, with Emali and Masimba dispensaries also in the planning stages. Poka-Kenyawa Member of County Assembly, Benard Moloma, encouraged residents to utilize the dispensary, which is equipped with the necessary tools for operations, and pledged to ensure the completion of the Emali and Masimba dispensaries.

Irene Leshinka, a local resident, expressed gratitude to the county government for the hospital, noting that it will eliminate the need for long journeys to access health services. She highlighted the impact this will have on expectant mothers, who previously faced risks of childbirth complications due to the lack of nearby maternity services.

Other residents also praised the county government for the dispensary, remarking that they no longer need to fear encounters with wildlife on their way to the hospital, as they can now receive treatment within their home vicinity.
