Nandi Governor Praises Nyeri’s Development Efforts and SHA Enrollment

Nyeri:Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang has praised the residents of Nyeri for their active participation in development programs initiated by both national and local governments. During a pass out parade for 34 newly trained Nyeri County inspectorate officers, Sang emphasized that Nyeri has set an example with its high engagement in national initiatives.

According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Sang highlighted Nyeri’s leading position in registering for the Social Health Authority (SHA), attributing this success to the guidance of Governor Dr. Mutahi Kahiga. Sang noted that Nyeri ranks at the top in SHA enrollment, with 570,000 residents registered, which constitutes about 75% of the county population according to the 2019 Census.

Governor Sang also expressed his commitment to continue collaboration with Governor Kahiga in benchmarking programs, recognizing the shared agricultural potential and development goals of Nandi and Nyeri counties. He urged residents to support government programs aimed at grassroots development, emphasizing the mutual benefits of such initiatives.

Dr. Kahiga commended the newly graduated officers for their perseverance through a rigorous 24-day training program, which was led by Superintendent David Patrick Kang’ethe at the City Inspectorate Training College. He also thanked Governor Sang for attending as the Chief Guest, noting the significance of the event for both counties.

The training focused on enhancing skills such as county law enforcement, disaster management, and public relations, preparing the officers to uphold integrity and professionalism. The recent training initiative is part of Nyeri’s broader efforts to modernize its County Inspectorate Department. With the addition of these officers, the total number of enforcement personnel in Nyeri has reached 148.
