Mogobich:Hundreds of residents in Ollesos Ward, Nandi County, have accessed free healthcare services through the Nandi County Beyond Zero mobile clinic.
According to Kenya News Agency, the event saw a significant turnout as residents sought various medical services provided by health professionals. The initiative aimed to bring healthcare services closer to the community, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances to access medical attention.
The services offered included treatment for various ailments, general consultations, screenings, and health education. Residents received advice on disease prevention, maintaining healthy lifestyles, and the importance of seeking early medical intervention.
County Director for Health Dr. Christine Jebet emphasized the county government’s commitment to improving access to primary healthcare, especially for communities facing barriers to health facilities. She highlighted the role of mobile outreaches in enhancing preventive and primary healthcare by facil
itating direct interaction between health workers and residents.
Dr. Jebet also pointed out that the outreach programs are used to raise awareness about preventive healthcare and the importance of regular health screenings. Residents requiring specialized care were referred to appropriate facilities, ensuring continuity of care.
Beyond Zero programme Coordinator Nancy Rop noted the high turnout demonstrated the necessity of bringing healthcare services to remote areas. She encouraged residents to utilize the screening and educational services provided, as early detection and timely treatment can prevent complications.
The outreach initiative is part of the county’s efforts to strengthen the connection between communities and the formal healthcare system, offering a cost-effective alternative to traveling for basic medical services.
