Mumias West Widows Receive Food Relief from Kakamega Women Representative

Kakamega: Kakamega Women Representative Elsie Muhanda has extended a helping hand to widows in Mumias West Constituency, providing food donations aimed at alleviating their daily challenges. The initiative targets widows across the four wards in the constituency, emphasizing support for vulnerable groups.

According to Kenya News Agency, during the event, Muhanda reaffirmed her dedication to assisting vulnerable populations, including widows and persons with disabilities, during these challenging economic times. She emphasized the importance of supporting those in need to help them navigate social challenges. “In my continuous efforts to reach out to my people, I remain committed to supporting those most in need. Today’s donation may not solve every problem, but it will help reduce the pressure on families and give them some relief,” Muhanda stated.

The widows, who often face difficulties in sustaining their families after the loss of their spouses, expressed their gratitude for the gesture. They appreciated the support, recognizing it as a sign of their leader’s concern for their well-being. One of the beneficiaries remarked that the assistance arrived at a crucial moment, saying, “This shows we are not forgotten.”

Muhanda reassured the residents that her office will persist in implementing programs designed to uplift vulnerable groups throughout Kakamega, utilizing the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF). She highlighted her objective of not only providing immediate relief but also fostering dignity and unity among families. “We must walk together as leaders and citizens. By supporting each other, we can build stronger and more resilient communities,” Muhanda added.

Her visit has been interpreted as a significant demonstration of compassion, hope, and a leadership style attentive to the needs of the people.
