Lugari: The government has put on notice corrupt and unlicensed land surveyors operating in Lugari Sub County following increased complaints from land buyers and sellers. Lugari Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Tumo, who spoke during Jamhuri Day celebrations at Mlimani Comprehensive School in Mautuma location, linked the many land conflicts in the area to irregularities in the survey processes undertaken by people he described as quacks and corrupt surveyors.

According to Kenya News Agency, Tumo mentioned that he chaired his first Land Control Board meeting in Lugari recently, where he observed significant challenges concerning land ownership. He alleged that over 50 unscrupulous individuals masquerading as surveyors in the sub-county are not qualified, hence they are the source of the challenges. These individuals reportedly demarcate and survey land, causing delays in the issuance of title deeds.

Tumo emphasized that the Sub County Land Control Board is determined to address the issue by blacklisting the unqualified surveyors. He declared that any title deed application processed by rogue and unqualified surveyors will be rejected. He stressed that surveyors’ offices should provide services and solutions, not create disputes.

He called upon the residents of the cosmopolitan subcounty to live harmoniously and support both the county and national governments for development. Tumo, who is new to the subcounty, reminded the public to use proper and formal channels for complaints rather than resorting to public disruptions.
