Migori: Over 200 construction artisans in Migori County have been trained and accredited with certificates by the National Construction Authority (NCA). The group is the first cohort among many artisans set to undergo training in the coming weeks, sponsored by the office of the Migori County Women Representative.
According to Kenya News Agency, the NCA-led trainings aim to empower a total of 2,000 construction artisans, many of whom work informally without professional documentation to validate their skills. Migori Woman Representative, M/s Fatumah Mohammed, highlighted that the programme will conclude in the next four days after being implemented in all eight Sub-Counties of Migori County.
M/s Mohammed stated that the trainings will assist local construction workers in acquiring relevant certification in their respective fields. She expressed concern that many skilled site workers in the County lack formal certification, hindering their access to job opportunities, including those in the government’s Affordable Housing Projects recently launched by President William Ruto during his regional tour.
She extended her gratitude to NCA for collaborating with her office in this initiative to empower local construction workers, enabling them to obtain necessary documents that authenticate their skills.
