Kisii: Leaders in Kisii County have lauded President Dr. William Ruto for initiating various infrastructural projects, aimed at transforming the lives of residents in the county. Speaking in Nyamache town during the third-day of his presidential tour of Gusii region, the leaders led by Kisii Governor and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader, Simba Arati, declared their unwavering support for Ruto, saying his development record speaks for itself.

According to Kenya News Agency, the ongoing projects in different constituencies within Kisii County, including roads, markets, affordable houses, and last mile electricity connectivity, are expected to significantly impact the county’s development agenda. Governor Simba Arati highlighted the productive engagement with the government under the Broad-Based arrangement between ODM and UDA, noting that the partnership had accelerated development for the residents of Kisii. He also expressed gratitude to the President for allocating an additional Sh100 million for the upgrading of Nyamache Sub-county Referral Hospital, which is anticipated to strengthen universal health coverage in the region.

State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary, Stephen Isaboke, who was present with the leaders, emphasized the government’s commitment to uniting the people and promoting development in the area. Meanwhile, South Mugirango Member of Parliament, Silvanus Osoro, criticized opposition leaders for allegedly fueling hatred and divisive politics in the region. Osoro mentioned that the National government is currently focusing on bringing tangible changes to the residents, adding that the time for politics will come.

During Day-Three of his tour, President Ruto laid the foundation stone for student hostels at Nyamache KMTC in Bobasi Constituency. He committed Sh100 million to upgrade Nyamache Sub-county Referral Hospital and an additional Sh20 million to build 10 more classrooms and two laboratories at the institution. The President also inspected the construction of the Sh75 million Mogonga modern market, which will accommodate 300 traders, featuring an ICT hub, cold storage facilities, and a hall for hosting events and community activities.

Furthermore, the Head of State handed over the Masimba Modern Market to traders in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency and launched the construction of the Keumbu-Ibeno road and rehabilitation of Kisii water supply network projects in Nyaribari Chache Constituency.
