Amman:Inspection teams from the Ministry of Labor, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), have apprehended 60 domestic workers with outstanding “runaway” reports filed at security centers in recent days.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammad Ziyoud, stated that these joint inspection efforts with the PSD are part of ongoing initiatives to regulate the labor market, reduce the incidents of domestic workers absconding, and protect them from exploitation in violation of existing laws.
Ziyoud explained that the ministry continues to conduct inspection campaigns through two committees established under the directive of the Minister of Labor. These committees are specifically tasked with addressing the issue of runaway domestic workers.
He emphasized that inspection teams are actively monitoring social media platforms and incoming reports regarding the employment of runaway workers on an hourly or daily-wage basis. The staff is committed to locating the whereabouts of these fugitive workers.
Furthermore, Ziyoud encouraged the public to provide information on the locations of runaway domestic workers through the ministry’s labor offices and directorates or via its official social media channels.
