Kilifi: Kilifi County is set to benefit from a renewed development partnership with the Government of Slovakia, focusing on health, education, infrastructure, natural resource management, and the business environment. According to Kenya News Agency, Ambassador Mitrk reiterated Slovakia’s longstanding partnership with Kenya, highlighting the country’s place among Slovakia’s top three priority nations in its new cooperation strategy. He stressed that Slovakia’s support extends beyond funding, focusing on skill acquisition and system strengthening, finding Kilifi County to be a reliable partner.
Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro welcomed the enhanced collaboration, citing successful joint projects such as the construction of Mazingira Park and an AI-powered telemedicine program. The governor announced the upcoming Kilifi Innovation and Renovation Hubs, aiming to equip youth with digital skills and foster local innovation.
Governor Mung’aro outlined Slovakia’s support across agriculture, water, and health infrastructure sectors, emphasizing capacity building for medical professionals in Kilifi. He assured residents that 93 percent of essential medical supplies have been delivered, with the remainder expected soon from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
Addressing healthcare delivery concerns, the governor clarified the availability of chronic illness medications at higher-level facilities, urging residents to seek appropriate information. He also commented on the Social Health Authority’s (SHA) operations, noting smooth patient services despite delayed disbursements to health facilities.
