Kasipul Parliamentary Seat Aspirants Assured of Ample Security

Nairobi: Rachuonyo South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Denis Kieti has assured all aspirants for the Kasipul constituency by-election of maximum security during their campaign. Kieti urged the aspirants to conduct peaceful campaigns, which are set to officially commence on October 8, 2025.

According to Kenya News Agency, the assurance of safety comes after 13 aspirants sought guarantees from the security team regarding their protection during the campaign period. DCC Denis Kieti stated that the security team has already identified hotspot areas and is prepared to address any issues to ensure peace prevails throughout the campaigning period.

Kieti made these remarks during a pre-nomination meeting held at the Kosele county council hall. The meeting aimed to examine potential pitfalls on the registration forms and clarify requirements for candidates’ registration, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the dual process.

By-election returning officer Rebecca Obwaku emphasized to the aspirants that the role of the IEBC officials is to facilitate the election process and ensure a level playing field. “We don’t support any of the candidates; manage your expectations. You contest to either win or lose,” she stated, urging the aspirants to adhere to the election code of conduct during their campaigns.

The Kasipul constituency seat became vacant following the tragic death of former local MP Charles Ongondo Were, who was shot dead in Nairobi on April 30, 2025.
