Homa bay: Karabok mixed secondary school soccer team has demonstrated its dominance in this year’s Homa Bay County soccer tournament by finishing the zonal competition without a single loss. The team achieved a series of victories in six matches against YalaKotieno, Nyalgosi, Nyambare, Nyagowa, and Mititi secondary school, culminating in a final match against Nyang’iela secondary school.
According to Kenya News Agency, Karabok’s soccer team has now secured its place in the Rachuonyo Sub county stage following a narrow 1-0 victory over Nyang’iela in the finals. This performance has been a highlight of the ongoing Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games at Karabok secondary school ground, where several teams have also showcased their skills to an enthusiastic audience.
The team’s coach, Gordon Aoko Karabok, attributed their success to a disciplined defense strategy, emphasizing its role in their zonal victory. Gordon noted, “Keeping six clean sheets in six games is no mean feat; it is a testa
ment to the hard work and tactical maturity these boys have shown on the pitch.”
Frank Otieno, the captain of the Karabok team, mentioned that entering the tournament as county champions placed additional pressure on them but also increased their determination to win. He highlighted the team’s unity as a key factor in maintaining a strong defense and focus throughout the competition.
Midfielder David Okoth expressed confidence in the team’s chemistry, stating, “Transitioning from defense to attack felt natural, and we are going into the next round fully confident that we can score against anyone while keeping the back locked.”
Stella Awino, a fan of the team, shared her excitement and pride, saying, “Karabok is giving us pure joy this year! The energy they bring to the pitch is infectious; watching them play is so beautiful. Their flawless football makes the whole community proud.”
