Kaptembwa Residents Want Authorities’ Beef-Up Security

Residents of Kaptembwa ward in the outskirts of Nakuru city have called for increased security operations fallowing what they described as rising cases of criminal activities allegedly perpetuated by organized criminal gangs.
Led by the area MCA elect David Wathiai, the residents want enhanced police patrols to contain the wave of crime that has hit the area.
The call comes in the wake of an incident in which a rugby player was attacked and killed by unknown assailants in the area over the weekend.
The Menengai Oiler club player identified as Antony Kibet was said to have succumbed to stab injuries inflicted on him by the assailants on Saturday evening.
The MCA said he visited Kaptembwa police station and requested the OCS to intensify police patrols so as to control the situation before it goes out of hand.
Wathiai singled out Kenlands area of Kaptembwa ward where he claimed the dreaded ‘confirm gang’ has been terrorizing residents in the recent past.
Nakuru County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo assured that police had taken up the matter and had launched investigations into the killing but so far no arrests had been made.
