Interior CS Commissions Sub County Offices

Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. Kithure Kindiki has commissioned Mutito North sub county offices in Kitui East, Kitui County to help resident’s access government services.

The newly erected sub county administration office is meant to help end crime in an area that is prone to insecurity as a result of the endless conflicts between local farmers and the Somali camel herders from the neighbouring Tana River and Garissa counties.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Prof. Kindiki cautioned government officers against engaging in politics, advising the public servant to deliver services to members of the public.

The CS insisted that the main goal of the public officers was to serve the people and work towards development and uplifting their livelihoods.

“County officers should not engage in politics, but rather focus on their main duty, which is to serve the people and ensure they offer services towards development and changing livelihoods of citizens,” said the CS.

The CS further added that the government is laying down measures to mitigate on the prevailing famine in the area, brought about by the extended drought occasioned by climate change.

He further disclosed that, due to climate change effects, the country is currently facing desertification, severe droughts and conflicts, resulting from the fight for resources.

“The government is focusing on climate change and its negative effects, especially drought. I urge all government sectors to work together in the fight against climate change,” reiterated Prof. Kindiki.
