IEBC Aims to Register Over 3,800 New Voters in Kajiado North

Kajiado: The Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set a target to register at least 3,846 new voters in Kajiado North Sub-county during the ongoing voter registration exercise. Currently, only 826 new voters have been recorded, according to the Sub-County IEBC Registration Officer, Benard Musee.

According to Kenya News Agency, Musee emphasized that the target includes all unregistered citizens who qualify to vote, with a significant portion of the registrants being youth. Kajiado North features 35 potential registering centers, yet due to resource constraints, registrations are primarily conducted at the main IEBC office in Ngong. Musee encouraged citizens to register by presenting a Kenyan identity card or valid passport, which are necessary to exercise their voting rights.

Musee detailed that the registration process is available from Monday to Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM. However, he noted that while the registration kit allows any Kenyan citizen to register anywhere in the country, it does not facilitate the transfer of voters from one constituency to another. For such transfers, individuals must visit the constituency where they intend to vote.

Efforts to boost registration include engaging opinion leaders, youth groups, and partnering with the Interior Ministry and other stakeholders to create awareness. Musee urged eligible, yet unregistered, Kenyans to seize this opportunity to influence future elections by registering to vote.

The IEBC began the continuous voter registration on September 29, 2025, aligning with their constitutional mandate to ensure that every eligible Kenyan above the age of 18 can partake in the democratic process.
