The Kenya Kwanza administration will serve all Kenyans equally regardless of their political affiliations, Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eliud Owalo has said.
Owalo said the government of President Dr. William Ruto was focused on delivering development across the country without bias.
Speaking at Africa Inland Church (AIC) at Arina in Kisumu, the CS assured residents of Nyanza region that the president was keen on addressing the development challenges in the area.
“President Ruto will serve this region like any other irrespective of the voting pattern that we witnessed in the last general election,” Owalo said.
The government, he assured, was focused on mooting infrastructural projects to fast-track development in the region.
The CS said the election was now over and called for a shift in the national discourse for development to take center stage.
“As Kenya Kwanza government the only politics we are going to be engaged in is the politics of development,” he said.
Owalo lauded area residents for maintaining peace during the General Election, which he said was testament that the country’s democracy had come of age.
The government, he added, will engage local leadership to fast-track development projects in aquaculture, tourism, sugarcane farming, rice production and electricity connectivity to turn around the economy of the area.
“The President has pronounced himself unequivocally about his intent to work with all leaders in this region irrespective of their political affiliations,” he said.
Owalo who was flanked by former Migori Governor Zachary Obado, former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa among other leaders represented President Dr. William Ruto at the 50th anniversary of the church.
The president, who was expected to grace the occasion, sent a personal contribution of Sh1 million towards the completion of the church.
Owalo’s sentiments were echoed by Outa who asked area residents to desist from cheap politics, but instead engage the government of the day to fast-track development in the region.
The former Kisumu County senator said President Ruto had demonstrated his willingness to work with the region.
He pointed out the appointment of CS Owalo, Interior Principal Secretary (CS) Dr. Raymond Omolo as evidence of the government embracing the region.
Other indicators, Outa said, was the approval of the Sh2.5 billion Kabonyo Kanyagwal Fish project in Kisumu and the Sh30 billion Koru-Soin dam, which is set to control flooding in Nyando.
