Kisii: Governor Simba Arati has lauded the county revenue officers for their role in enhancing revenue collection and improving efficiency in the county. Speaking during a meeting with the revenue officers at the Kisii Agricultural Training Centre, the Governor noted the county had surpassed its own source revenue target for the financial year 2024/2025 by 178 percent, with the officers collecting a record-breaking Sh1.5 billion.
According to County Governments Budget Implementation Review Report (2025) by the Controller of Budget, Kisii topped the list in own-source revenue collection raising Sh1.5 billion, while Siaya recorded the lowest performance at Sh436 million (47 percent) in the 2024/2025 financial year. Governor Arati emphasized his administration’s determination to further improve the welfare of revenue officers to maintain this performance.
The governor urged the officers to embrace teamwork, integrity, and commitment to ensure the county achieves its subsequent revenue targets for sustainable development. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the Revenue Department to deliver its mandate by creating systems that will promote local revenue generation for the benefit of the residents.
