Government In The Process Of Uplifting Sports’ Face, CS Namwamba

Youth Affairs and Arts Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has announced that his ministry will work with the Bomet County Government to ensure that sports facilities are upgraded in the County.

Namwamba was speaking in Bomet after undertaking an inspection tour of Bomet Stadium in preparation for a proposed facelift of the facility.

He stated that the ministry would work with the county government to ensure that the stadium standards are improved to a level capable of hosting regional and national tournaments in line with the Ministry’s master plan on stadium development.

“This is part of the ministry’s goals to upgrade most of the stadium facilities across the country to Federation International Football Association (FIFA) and Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards,” explained the CS.

“The ministry is setting its development masterplan agenda on stadia. We are renovating and coming up with playing fields of international standards where we will grow and nurture all sports talents in the country,” he said.

The CS also stated that all these projects would be undertaken in the policy context of the government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to grow the economy by empowering Kenyan youths from the bottom upwards.

“The government is deploying a Bottom economic approach, which is a wholesome government approach whereby each and every ministry is working hand in hand to ensure sustainable growth in all sectors to benefit all Kenyans including those who are at the bottom,” explained CS Ababu.

On his visit to Bomet during the thanksgiving prayer in January, President William Ruto gave his word to uplift sports and Bomet stadium.

Bomet governor Prof. Hillary Barchok, County Commissioner Dr Ahmed Omar and Sports Kenya Director General Pius Metto accompanied the CS.
