Gourma: King Untaanba of Gulmu offered, this Monday, August 4, 2025, 13 tons of rice and 3 tons of corn to internally displaced persons and host populations in the town of Fada N’Gourma, in the Eastern region. A humanitarian gesture welcomed by the beneficiaries and local authorities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the royal court of Gulmu vibrated to the rhythm of solidarity on Monday, August 4, 2025. Under the aegis of His Majesty King Untaanba, 13 tons of rice and 3 tons of corn were handed over to internally displaced persons and host families residing in Fada N’Gourma.

Her Majesty’s spokesman, Mardiao Richard Thiombiano, emphasized that this gesture comes in a difficult humanitarian context: “Every day, people knock on Her Majesty’s door asking for help to meet their subsistence needs in this context of insecurity. This is why Her Majesty has decided to provide assistance to these populations in distress,” he said.

The provincial director in charge of Humanitarian Action, Paul Yara, acknowledged this gesture of great social significance. “In the current context, the State, technical and financial partners, as well as Gulmu figures must combine their efforts to help people in vulnerable situations. This gesture by King Untaanba is a perfect illustration of this,” he declared.

For the beneficiaries, this donation of food is a real relief. “It’s a joy for me this morning. I, who often slept on an empty stomach, will now be able to sleep well thanks to this gift from His Majesty,” confided Diassougou Lompo.

The same goes for the mother, Mariam Yougbar©, who expressed her feelings. “I am happy because with this donation, my children and I will be able to smile again,” she noted.

Through this action, King Untaanba reaffirmed his commitment to remaining close to his people and working for solidarity in the Gulmu region in particular, in these times marked by population displacement and growing humanitarian needs.
