Makueni: Makueni County Deputy Governor (DG), Lucy Mulili, has asked the residents of Kilome Constituency to help curb rampant vandalism of projects and instead challenged them to protect the projects so that they can serve to posterity. Mulili made the remarks, Saturday, at Kawala Village, Kiima Kiu/Kalanzoni Ward, during the burial of Mzee Stanley Kyeva Kyunguti, where she expressed her concern over wanton destruction of projects that is impacting negatively on the development in the area.
According to Kenya News Agency, the DG highlighted the increase in destruction of development schemes, particularly water projects across the County. She urged the residents to take ownership and protect these projects, ensuring they serve both the current and future generations. Mulili emphasized the importance of community involvement in safeguarding existing projects and encouraged collaboration with the County Government to maximize community benefits.
The Deputy Governor also revealed ongoing efforts by the County government, in partnership with other organizations, to fund additional water projects in the area. Furthermore, she announced the allocation of emergency funds for road repairs and disaster preparedness in anticipation of the El-Ni±o rains expected in October this year.
Accompanying DG Mulili at the event were area Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Justus Mwanzia, along with other County officials, who reiterated support for the initiatives aimed at enhancing community resilience and development.
