Nairobi: Thousands of farmers, agribusiness stakeholders, and residents from Murang’a and neighboring counties converged at Kimorori Grounds in Kenol, Maragua Constituency, for a two-day AgriBiz Expo aimed at connecting farmers with markets, technology providers, manufacturers, and investors. The expo brought together players across the agricultural value chain, with exhibitors and experts showcasing opportunities in crop farming, livestock production, animal nutrition, waste management, food processing, and other agribusiness ventures.
According to Kenya News Agency, speaking during the official opening of the Murang’a County AgriBiz Expo, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce Murang’a Chapter Director Naomi Kagome emphasized the importance of bringing together farmers, investors, manufacturers, and agricultural experts to unlock new business opportunities and strengthen the sector. Kagome highlighted the need for platforms where farmers can meet investors, manufacturers, buyers, and technology providers to help businesses advance to the next level.
AgriBiz 2026 Chairman Muturi Njoroge expressed that the expo sought to strengthen agricultural value chains by connecting farmers with technology providers, manufacturers, and markets. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork to improve profitability and sustainability in agriculture. Njoroge also urged farmers to prepare for global markets by focusing on quality over production volumes, stressing that success would depend on meeting international standards for food safety and quality assurance.
Among the exhibitors, Daniel Njomo, Production Manager at Makomboki Tea Factory, appreciated the opportunity to showcase products and network with stakeholders in the agribusiness sector. Njomo noted that his factory was presenting its tea products, including CPC teas, and introducing new items like ginger tea, alongside unveiling new branding to the market.
Susan Langat, Operations Manager at Agrimix Nutrition Limited, shared the significance of the expo in allowing direct interaction with farmers, providing practical advice on animal nutrition and feeding practices. Langat encouraged farmers to approach agriculture as a business, focusing on profitability and management.
Meanwhile, David Njuguna, a dairy and ornamental birds’ farmer from Mang’u in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, expressed his gratitude for the new ideas gained at the expo, despite his long experience in farming. Njuguna learned valuable information on poultry farming and emphasized the importance of regular exhibitions for continued learning and development in the agriculture sector.
