Endo Ward Regains Representation At Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly

Migori: Endo Ward has successfully reinstated representation at the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly with the swearing-in of Festus Kirop as the new Member of County Assembly (MCA). The Speaker of the County Assembly, Lawi Kibire, expressed optimism regarding the positive impact Kirop’s leadership could have on both representation and development within the ward.

According to Kenya News Agency, during the ceremony held in Iten, Kibire highlighted that the residents of Endo Ward can anticipate renewed leadership following a period without representation due to the passing of the former MCA, Jeremiah Kibiwott. Kibire emphasized the importance of having local representation to avoid any slowdown in activities and development.

Kirop’s assumption of office comes at a time when the security situation within Kerio Valley has improved, which Kibire noted as essential for fostering development and service delivery. The improved peace has allowed both National and County governments to concentrate on crucial development areas such as education, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Kibire remarked on the vast potential of Endo Ward in sectors like agriculture and tourism, positioning Kerio Valley as an emerging investment hub primed for economic growth and job creation. He urged leaders to focus on delivering tangible results that would benefit the residents.

In his acceptance speech, Kirop thanked the constituents for their trust and committed to using the remaining term to push forward development programs and enhance service delivery. He assured residents of his dedication to completing ongoing projects and improving representation.

Kirop acknowledged the contributions of the National government, security agencies, and local communities in restoring peace, facilitating investment, and allowing for infrastructural development. He cited the improvement of the Chesoi-Tot road as a critical project poised to boost economic activities.

He encouraged investors to capitalize on the current secure and conducive environment in Kerio Valley, which presents opportunities in agriculture, tourism, and hospitality. Kirop praised residents for their role in maintaining peace and emphasized the potential for socio-economic transformation through continued collaboration among leaders, institutions, and the community.
