The Narok North and East Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officers, have confirmed that all systems are set for the elections tomorrow.
Narok East Returning Officer, Joe Omaye, said they have received all materials needed for the crucial exercise and are in the process of distributing them to the presiding officers who will move with them to the polling stations.
“Everything has moved smoothly here, we have received all the materials needed and what is remaining is for the presiding officers to pick them to their respective polling stations,” he said.
He reiterated that the Commission has established a Communication Center where they will be able to communicate with the presiding officers in case they face any challenge.
On transport, the Returning Officer acknowledged that the Constituency is vast with impassable roads but confirmed that they had made arrangements to get tractors that would help transport the election materials in case of rains.
“Nothing should prevent the election materials from getting to the Polling Stations in the shortest time possible. In case of rains, we will use tractors to transport the materials,” he said.
Narok East has a total 46, 545 registered voters and four wards. Eight candidates will be contesting for the Member of Parliament seat among them incumbent MP Ken Aramat (UDA), Kipas Lengwes (Jubilee) and Narok County Chief Officer- Tourism Newton Mpaima (ANC), Alfred Keriolale (ODM) and Sarbabi Ololtobirr (UPF).
The Constituency has four wards namely Mosiro (14, 164), Ildamat (10, 070), Keekonyokie (11, 121) and Suswa Ward (11, 180).
In Narok North Constituency, the Returning Officer, Julius Okweta, confirmed that all is set for tomorrow’s exercise and called on residents to volunteer early enough to vote.
He said all the election materials were ready for collection by the presiding officers and security personnel had been deployed to guard the materials.
“By 5.30 pm, we will have distributed the materials to all the presiding officers, deputy presiding officers and the security personnel,” he said.
Narok North Constituency is the largest in the county with 88, 665 registered voters with six wards namely Olposimoru (9260), Olokruto (11, 038), Narok town (29, 452), Nkaretta (9, 611), Oloropil (13, 829) and Melili (15, 475).
Those vying for the MP seat area Martin Kamwaro (Independent), Patrick Masikonde (Independent), Symon Rotiken (Independent), Agnes Pareyio (Jubilee), Joseph Leboo (KANU), Allan Meingati (ODM), Rebecca Naanyu (Service Party) and Kerimpuoti Ole Sadera (UDA).
