Regional Commissioner Warns Politician Over Incitement

Eastern Regional Commissioner, Evans Achoki, has put politicians on notice over incitement, saying that the area Security Team will deal ruthlessly, with any act of lawlessness.
“We will do all that is within our powers to ensure there is peace in our counties. We will deal with any lawlessness with full force of the law,” said Achoki.
The Regional Commissioner called on various politicians in the region not to incite residents nor call for demonstrations in case they feel they lost unfairly, but to seek redress in courts.
“In case you feel defeated unfairly, don’t take people on roads to demonstrate but go to the court,” he said.
Addressing the press at the Eastern Region Headquarters in Embu after the Regional Security and Intelligence Committee meeting, Achoki said that the region has already received all the strategic and non-strategic election materials in all the 45 constituencies in Eastern Region.
He added that 16,000 police officers have been deployed to 7,741 polling centers and 56 tallying centers in the region to provide security.
“We will deploy close to 16,000 police officers in the 7,741 polling centres and 56 tallying centres to cover the election, so we are ready and set for the day,” he said.
He called on all the residents in Eastern Region to wake up early in the morning to vote and go back to their homes to wait for the results from their homes.
The Regional commissioner urged all the aspirants of various seats to be patient as they wait for the results once they vote and not to incite their followers.
Achoki at the same time warned the residents of Eastern Region from selling their ID cards, adding that anyone found buying ID cards will be arrested.
The Regional Commissioner said that the government has deployed air surveillance in Isiolo and Marsabit counties, adding that enough security has also been deployed in the area.
