Machakos: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has successfully recovered public land valued at Sh50 million that was illegally acquired and subdivided into three parcels in Machakos.
According to Kenya News Agency, EACC Director of Legal Services David Too stated that the land, which originally belonged to the Ministry of Housing and is located adjacent to the Machakos law courts, was reclaimed following litigation in court. The EACC demonstrated that the land had been unlawfully carved out of government premises.
Director Too, speaking at a press conference in Machakos, emphasized the importance of safeguarding recovered public land. He also highlighted the EACC’s ongoing mission to reclaim grabbed public land in Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, and other regions across the country.
Too mentioned that the EACC is currently pursuing the recovery of public land belonging to Machakos Prisons, where 13 parcels have been alienated. The matter is still in the court process, with the properties in question valued at Sh363 million.
He reiterated the Commission’s mandate to investigate corruption, promote ethics, and focus on recovering illegally acquired assets, with the aim of restoring public resources for the benefit of citizens.
