Kipkelion West:Dr. Stanley Kemboi, a Senior Clinician and Head of the Non-Communicable Disease Centre at Kericho County Referral Hospital, was laid to rest at Kaulia Village in Chilchila Ward. The funeral saw family members, colleagues, community leaders, and residents gather to bid farewell to a respected figure in the health sector.
According to Kenya News Agency, Kericho Governor Dr. Erick Mutai attended the burial, leading local leaders in mourning and conveying condolences on behalf of the County Government and the people of Kericho. Governor Mutai joined mourners in paying their respects to Kemboi, who had significantly contributed to the county’s health system.
Kemboi, who died in a road accident announced by the County Government of Kericho on September 29, was remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated colleague. His passing is seen as a substantial loss to the health community, with tributes highlighting his commitment to patient care and non-communicable disease management in Kericho County.
The county praised Kemboi’s dedication, noting that his work earned him respect in the medical fraternity. His efforts in public health education particularly focused on hypertension and diabetes, with Kemboi emphasizing the importance of early detection and regular monitoring. He had also documented a decrease in severe asthma cases in the county, attributing the trend to reduced air pollution and respiratory infections during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to his clinical work, Kemboi actively participated in health education initiatives. He facilitated a Staff Wellness Day at the University of Kabianga, discussing the prevention and management of conditions such as mental health issues, cancers, hypertension, and diabetes. His broad involvement in health awareness activities was noted as impactful beyond his immediate clinical duties.
Kemboi’s contributions to public health extended to asthma education, advising on symptom management and trigger avoidance. During his career, he championed early screening for chronic conditions, underscoring its importance in preventing complications like heart attacks and strokes.
