Uasin gishu: Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development projects across the country while urging Kenyans to continue supporting President William Ruto’s administration. Speaking during a church service and interdenominational fundraiser at Kapsang African Inland Church (AIC) in Ziwa, Soy Sub-County, the Deputy President emphasized the government’s focus on fulfilling its promises through investments in agriculture, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, and social development programs.
According to Kenya News Agency, Prof. Kindiki highlighted the government’s agricultural reforms, which have significantly reduced the cost of fertilizer, easing the burden on farmers and enhancing food production nationwide. He acknowledged concerns from farmers in Uasin Gishu regarding the availability of top-dressing fertilizer and pledged to work with the relevant ministry to ensure prompt delivery of adequate supplies.
Prof. Kindiki discussed several ongoing government projects in the region, including the construction of a major referral hospital in Eldoret, affordable housing projects, road infrastructure, and market development initiatives. He mentioned that the affordable housing program in Eldoret is expected to provide over 10,000 housing units, benefiting thousands of families and creating employment opportunities.
The Deputy President emphasized the importance of monitoring development projects to ensure timely completion and maximum benefits for citizens. On national politics, he asserted that the Constitution allows a two-term presidency, enabling elected leaders to initiate and complete development programs.
Addressing recent parliamentary debates on the national budget and Finance Bill, Prof. Kindiki dismissed claims of new tax introductions, stating that Parliament confirmed no additional tax burdens on Kenyans. He noted that government development programs rely on budgetary allocations and lawful revenue collection mechanisms approved through constitutional processes.
Prof. Kindiki also cautioned against violence and property destruction during demonstrations, emphasizing that while the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and expression, these freedoms should not infringe on others’ rights and livelihoods. He assured citizens that security agencies would maintain law and order while safeguarding the rights of all, including demonstrators, traders, travelers, and the public.
The event was attended by National Treasury PS Dr. Chris Kiptoo, several governors, senators, MPs, ward representatives, county officials, and other church and local leaders.
