Nairobi: Cabinet Secretaries Salim Mvurya and Hassan Joho are calling on residents in the coastal region to actively support the government’s development agenda. The officials highlighted the necessity of community collaboration with the national government to foster sustainable economic activities, job creation, and equitable public resource utilization.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mvurya and Joho, alongside local leaders, delivered their message during a gathering at Ronald Ngala grounds in Mombasa County. They were joined by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Senator Mohamed Faki, several MPs, and Youth Affairs Principal Secretary, Fikirini Jacobs.
Mvurya and Joho, who previously served as governors of Kwale and Mombasa, underscored the importance of policy continuity for economic reform and security improvement. They defended the current administration’s efforts towards regional equity, emphasizing the fair distribution of development across the nation. Mvurya urged continued support for the government’s bottom-up economic strategy, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in socio-economic development.
The National Government’s NYOTA project, a Sh5 billion initiative aimed at combating youth unemployment, was highlighted by Mvurya as a significant intervention for socio-economic stability. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upskilling young people and creating a supportive environment for their success.
Joho echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the government’s dedication to accelerating development and enhancing opportunities for the youth. He stressed the importance of public participation in shaping the development agenda and warned against electoral decisions that could hinder progress.
Governor Nassir addressed the youth, urging them to avoid drug abuse and criminal activities to ensure a prosperous future. The leaders collectively emphasized the significance of supporting national development efforts to promote inclusive growth and improve citizens’ quality of life.
