Calls for Synergy Between County and National Government

Elgeyo marakwet county: Elgeyo Marakwet County Commissioner David Koske has called for synergy between the national and county government heads to ensure that all officers are aware of the various projects being undertaken by the two governments.

According to Kenya News Agency, Koske emphasized the importance of officers having comprehensive information about government projects, as they frequently interact with residents. He noted that being well-informed enables officers to effectively communicate government policies and projects to the public.

Addressing county heads of departments during his inaugural meeting at the county commissioner’s hall in Iten, Koske announced plans to establish a monthly County Service Delivery Meeting. This forum will serve as a platform for discussing government programs, ensuring that all officers are informed about departmental activities. Koske stressed that when officers are uninformed, the public remains uninformed as well.

During these meetings, each county head will be required to provide detailed updates on their projects, including allocations, current status, timelines, and other pertinent information. Koske also urged the county secretary, Lazarus Chebii, present at the meeting, to coordinate with his office for a quarterly meeting involving county heads and the County Executive Committees. These discussions will focus on projects undertaken by both county and national governments.

Koske insisted on the personal attendance of county heads at the meetings, discouraging delegation unless absolutely necessary. He emphasized that any representative must be capable of clearly articulating the issues at hand. He advocated for a closer working relationship among all officers, highlighting the pivotal role of county heads in implementing projects and policies through line ministries.
