Bomet Governor Professor Hillary Barchok casted his vote in his home place at Kapkimolwa polling station in Bomet East Constituency.
Addressing the media, Barchok maintained his optimism that he will outshine his main rival former governor Isaac Rutto and clinch the seat.
Barchok acknowledged that the voting process has been going smoothly in the county with no cases of malpractices have been reported.
“Today is a historical day, I urge our people to get out and cast their votes, people should be left to express their democratic right,” said Barchok.“We have campaigned and also my administration has delivered to the people of this great country we shall take the day.”
Elsewhere in Chebaraa Primary School at Chepalungu Constituency, Former Bomet Governor and Chama Cha Mashinani party leader casted his vote at 1pm in the afternoon.
Addressing the media shortly after casting his vote, Mr Rutto applauded the voting exercise noting that everything was going on in a moderated manner.
The former county boss also exuded his confidence that he will re-clinch his seat after staying outside of politics for the last five years.
“We are confident that we will clinch the seat and so far we haven’t witnessed any form of electoral malpractices, I want to urge our people to get out and vote in large numbers,” explained Rutto.
The gubernatorial contest in Bomet has attracted the attention of many within and outside the county as people are closely following the rivalry of the two top contestants and Amani National Congress’s Benard Mutai.
