Garissa: Ijara parliamentary aspirant Bashir Beynah Maktal on Wednesday visited Sangailu Division in Hulugho Sub-County, Garissa County, where he received a warm welcome from residents as he intensified his grassroots campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to Kenya News Agency, Beynah, who is seeking to contest the Ijara parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, expressed his gratitude for the large turnout and encouraging messages from residents since declaring his interest in the seat. He noted that the reception demonstrated the growing acceptance of his campaign message and the eagerness of residents to have their concerns addressed.
During his visit, residents pointed out several challenges affecting the area, such as inadequate water infrastructure, the need for more dams, poor roads, and livestock vaccination, among other concerns. Beynah assured the community that these issues would be part of his discussions with relevant authorities and development stakeholders.
Beynah emphasized that his visit was a reminder that leadership should remain connected to the people and their daily challenges rather than being confined to Nairobi. ‘The campaign is about visibility, unity, development, dignity, and a better future for every resident of Ijara Constituency,’ he stated.
The aspirant mentioned that his team would continue to traverse the constituency, including areas such as Sangailu, Hulugho, Masalani, and Ijara town, to engage with residents and understand their priorities. He assured that his team was documenting the challenges mentioned by communities and would present them to relevant authorities for potential intervention.
Beynah promised that if elected, he would prioritize engaging with residents, listening to their concerns, and ensuring that development and services reach communities across the constituency. He reassured the residents of Sangailu that he would address the issues they raised, adding that the warm reception had strengthened his resolve to continue with his campaign. ‘Your voices will remain at the heart of our mission,’ he affirmed.
