April 29th declared national holiday to mourn President Kibaki

Kibaki will be laid to rest at his Othaya family home at a private ceremony on Saturday 30th April
The Government has declared Friday the 29th April a National Holiday to accord President Mwai Kibaki a befitting State Funeral.
The National State Funeral Committee tasked with planning the funeral arrangements said the funeral will take place on Friday the (29th April, 2022) at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi County with full Military Honours and Protocols.
Kibaki will be laid to rest at his Othaya family home at a private ceremony on Saturday 30th April, 2022 after public prayers at Othaya Stadium on the same day. The committee also announced that the late President will lie in state at Parliament buildings from Monday to Wednesday.
“His Excellency the President Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, CGH accompanied by Her Excellency the First Lady Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta, EGH will lead the nation in publicly viewing the body of at 10.00 a.m. on Monday, the 25th April, 2022. All other dignitaries and Government officials are required to have arrived at the National Assembly for the event on or before 9.00 a.m.,” said the Committee led by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.
The Head of the Public Service and the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of the National Government will launch the official signing of the Condolence Book of the late President on Tuesday, 26th April 2022 at Harambee House.
“Condolence Books will be availed at all Regional, County and Sub-County Government Offices for the members of the public.”
The late President, who served from 2002 to 2013 died at the age of 90. His death was announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.
