Administrator Wants Local Leaders Work In Unity

Migori County Commissioner Meru Mwangi has called upon the local leaders to work hand in hand to accomplish the socio economic dreams of the country.
Mwangi who led the Migori residents in celebrating Jamhuri Day at Migori Stadium noted that the country can fully benefit from the workable ideas if both the county and national leaders can work in harmony.
Mwangi urged the public servants to meet their set targets in order to improve service delivery to the public. He also added that it was important for the county to come up with homegrown solutions to local problems for the betterment of the society at ward levels.
Mwangi emphasised that his administration will continue to partner with the county government to provide and promote a conducive working environment for all the local residents.
Migori County Executive Committee Member (CECMs) for Public Service and Devolution Caleb Opondo said that the county in partnership with the Global Labour Programme had started a pilot programme for sorghum in Suna West, East and Nyatike Sub Counties to diversify food production and boost food security in the county.
Opondo who represented Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko during the Jamhuri Day Celebrations said that the county will soon come up with a Skill Need Inventory at Ward levels to help improve skills and knowledge in Agri-Business and Entrepreneurship.
“Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the major economic drivers in the county through revenue and job creation and having necessary agribusiness and entrepreneurship will boost the socio-economic status of the county”, said Opondo.
Opondo called upon the Technical Vocational Training Centres to focus more on SMEs by providing and equipping their students with inventory skills to help youth become self-reliant in the job market and wealth creators in the county.
Migori Youth Representative Joseph Nyapete urged the youths that have been given a chance to serve at the national and county levels to demonstrate maturity and work diligently to open opportunities for the young generation.
He said that the county can benefit from the positive energy of the able youth to drive the country socio economic growth in all sectors if given the chance both at the national and county levels.
