Makueni: At least 465,000 individuals are set to be vaccinated against measles and typhoid in Makueni County, as announced by Anita Mutula.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mrs. Mutula, the spouse of Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo, made this announcement at the Unoa Primary Sports grounds, where she officially launched the vaccination campaign. The initiative will cover Measles-Rubella and Typhoid Conjugated vaccines and is scheduled to be conducted across schools, homes, religious centers, and government health facilities from July 5th to 13th, 2025.
The vaccination campaign targets children aged between nine months and five years. Mrs. Mutula urged parents to ensure their children receive the vaccines. She emphasized the county leadership’s commitment to supporting the campaign by providing the necessary resources for its success.
The launch event saw the attendance of several key figures, including Chief Officer of Health Dr. Harvey Mulei Mbithi, Acting Director of Preventive and Promotive Health Dr. Stephen Mwatha, Member of County Assembly for Kikumbulyu North Ward and Chairperson of the Health Committee Dr. Jackson Mbalu, nominated MCA Elizabeth Muthike, and Denis Musyoka from Kako Waia Ward.
