Wetangula Urges Western Region Residents to Support President Ruto

Nairobi: National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has called on leaders and residents from the Western region to offer their full support to President William Ruto’s administration, emphasizing that the President has dedicated significant national resources to the area. Wetang’ula asserted that the level of development currently being witnessed in the region is unprecedented compared to previous administrations.

According to Kenya News Agency, Wetang’ula made these remarks while speaking at Bulimbo in Matungu Constituency, Kakamega County. He was accompanied by local leaders including Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, Senators, and Members of Parliament. Wetang’ula assured residents that the funds needed to complete development projects initiated by President Ruto would be included in the national budget. He emphasized that during his tenure with past presidents, including the late Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki, as well as in the Senate under President Uhuru Kenyatta, the region had never experienced such developmental progress.

Wetang’ula urged local legislators to leverage the ongoing national budget process to ensure adequate resources are allocated for the completion of these projects. He also highlighted President Ruto’s efforts in reviving several stalled initiatives, such as the Mumias and Nzoia sugar factories, road tarmacking, market construction, and the development of hostels under the Affordable Housing Programme.

During the same event, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa remarked on the resumption of construction at the long-stalled Kakamega Level 6 Hospital, crediting the intervention to both the national and county governments. This project is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot praised the Kenya Kwanza administration for its achievement of employing over 100,000 teachers in under three years. Along with other speakers, including Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, MPs Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Oscar Nabulindo (Matungu), and presidential aide Farouk Kibet, Cheruiyot urged the community to back the government’s initiatives while criticizing the opposition for their divisive politics, which they argue hinders development efforts.
