Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has pledged to ensure a raft of reforms in his administration to restore confidence in the county leadership while delivering on his development pledges.
Addressing residents at Kwanza Girls secondary school during this year’s Mashujaa day, Natembeya said he will not condone corruption during his reign. He affirmed that he will deliver on his promises as outlined in his campaign manifesto.
The Governor disclosed that his negotiations with the Kenya Railways for a parcel of land within Kitale town to provide space for the establishment of a market had yielded fruits.
“Although we had requested for seven acres, we eventually got two and a half acres which we shall use to set up a modern market that will provide additional space for our traders in town,” he pointed out.
He also cautioned health workers against stealing medical supplies and selling them to Uganda, saying those found to engage in the malpractice will face dire consequences.
The county chief disclosed that he had already engaged potential investors willing to establish a maize milling plant that will ensure value addition for the locally produced cereals.
He offered tax holiday to entrepreneurs willing to venture in to value addition so that they can have ease of growing their businesses from scratch.
Natembeya urged MCAs to speedily approve his nominees for the positions of County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) so that progress can be realized.
Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory, County Commissioner Mbogai Rioba, County senator Allan Chesang, county assembly deputy Speaker Obed Mahanga, deputy majority leader Kefa Were, chief whip James Mwangi and Sitatunga MCA Simon Murei were among the leaders who accompanied the governor during the celebrations.
